Creighton University Biology Club
Student Travel Grant
This grant is sponsored by the Creighton University Biology Club with
the intention of providing funding for student travel to academic and research
related events. The funds allocated be the scholarship
would assist students in paying registration fess, travel costs
and other expenses incurred while presenting their findings.
Eligibility
In order to qualify for travel expense stipend students must:
- Be a registered Biology major.
- Submit the application form to the President of the Biology Club at least
three (3) weeks prior to departure for the event.
- Be supervised by a Creighton Faculty member in the research that necessitates
travel. (recommended but not necessary)
- Have applied (through their Faculty advisor) for a Dean of Art and Sciences
sponsored Travel Grant. (recommended but not necessary)
- Give a brief presentation about the event at a Biology Club meeting after
returning from the event.
Selection Process
All award decisions are made by the officers of the Biology
Club.
The amount awarded may vary and is determined on a case by case basis.
The estimated expenses will be used to determine the amount awarded,
and that amount will be given to the Faculty advisor of the student or
the student (case depending) before departure for the event. The Creighton
Biology Club does not guarantee that all expenses will be covered if the grant
is awarded. If for any
reason the applicant is not able to attend the event the monies must
be returned in full to the Biology Club.
The Biology Club will not necessarily award these grants on a yearly basis;
awards will be based on quality of applicants and merit.
