Writing Assignment 1

The first writing assignment is on recent advances in our understanding of osmoregulation in a model crustacean, the blue crab Callinectes sapidus. Below is a list of primary research articles and a few review papers. Using at least four of these primary articles, write a review of about 1200-1500 words on mechanisms of osmoregulation in this species. Within the general topic, you can choose to provide a more in-depth review of just four articles, or write a somewhat broader review that includes more of the articles. If you can locate other relevant articles, you can include those as well - just provide me with a copy. The review articles may also be used as a reference for background information, but don’t count as primary articles. See the “Writing Assignments” handout for specific information on the format of this assignment.
